The Truncated Cone of St Helens
The cold of the crater rim soon encouraged a hasty descent. Snow conditions were firm windpack on the upper slopes, quite good skiing actually. Below this were areas of nice corn snow which soon became just plain old Cascade concrete. Here Matt takes a rest in the middle of the slope with Mount Adams in the distance.
