By mid-afternoon we had nearly reached our goal. Here we are on the uppermost part of the Muir Snowfield, above 9000 ft. Camp Muir lies below and to the right of the large rock (Gibraltar Rock) on the skyline to the right of the summit, which now appears quite foreshortened and distorted.
