We stopped in Mount Shasta City to check Shasta and Lassen ski conditions at The Fifth Season, the local climbing store. The report was favorable for both mountains, so after a quick dinner at the Black Bear Diner (recommended) we drove the last 100 miles to Lassen. This view looks back at Shasta from the southeast along Highway 89. An ominous lenticular cloud forming above the summit seemed to forecast upcoming foul weather.
